WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE OF LEGAL STUDIES (ICLS)?

ICLS is an institute based in Sri Lanka, providing tutoring facilities to students enrolled in the University of London LLB programme.

CAN INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS JOIN ICLS?

Yes, they can. ICLS caters to students enrolled in the University of London LLB programme worldwide.

WHAT IS THE METHOD OF TEACHING AT ICLS?

Via online live classes utilizing different platforms for both Sri Lankan and overseas students and face-to-face classroom-based teaching for Sri Lankan students.

WHAT IS THE DURATION OF A CLASS?

Each class will be approximately two hours.

WILL INDIVIDUAL CLASSES BE PROVIDED?

Group classes would be the main focus at ICLS. However, on special request, individual classes will be considered.

WHAT ARE THE SUBJECTS THAT ARE OFFERED AT ICLS?

Please refer to Course Modules for subjects offered.

CAN I CHOOSE TO FOLLOW SELECTED SUBJECTS THROUGH ICLS?

You can register with ICLS and follow lectures for the entire LLB programme or if you wish, you could register only for selected subjects.

WHAT IS THE STYLE OF TEACHING?

Interactive teaching with in-depth explanation of each topic, specifically catered to imparting thorough knowledge on the various subjects of study and also equipping students in tackling examination questions.

WILL THERE BE PAST-PAPER DISCUSSIONS?

Yes, this is one of the most vital components of the course. Hence, any question from past papers, be it Zone A or Zone B, will be discussed.

WILL MOCK EXAMS BE CONDUCTED?

Yes, and it will be under examination conditions.

WHAT ARE THE REFERENCE MATERIAL THAT WILL BE USED DURING THE LECTURES?

Material from the recommended core textbooks, together with related textbooks, articles, recent developments and relevant examples will be utilized.

WILL ANSWER STRUCTURES BE PROVIDED?

Yes! HOWEVER, this will only be for the limited purpose of guiding students in developing their skills in order to answer questions. As the University of London is very clear that memorised rote answers will not receive high marks, this will be strictly adhered to in order to ensure students perform to the best of their abilities. 

WILL THE TEACHING AND MATERIALS PROVIDED BE SUFFICIENT OR DO I NEED TO DO ANY EXTRA READING?

There is a vast amount of literature on all subjects. Therefore, in order to get the best out of any subject, it is highly recommended that students do their own extra reading, apart from the comprehensive material provided by the lecturers at ICLS.

 IS THERE A WAY TO CATCH UP IF I MISS ONE CLASS OR A FEW CLASSES? 

This will only be possible if a lecturer has the time to provide any additional classes.

WHAT SKILLS WILL I DEVELOP THROUGH THE COURSE?

You will have a thorough and in-depth knowledge of the various subjects of study. You will be able to tremendously build up your critical analytical skills and, at the same time, be able to confidently face the exam, be it the Zone A or the Zone B paper.

WHAT IF I HAVE ANY SUBJECT-RELATED QUESTIONS?

Students may raise any questions that may arise during lecture sessions. In addition, there will be comprehensive question, answer, and discussion sessions.

WHAT IS THE SYLLABUS THAT WILL BE FOLLOWED AT ICLS?

The teaching course is specifically structured for the University of London LLB programme.
